EMME: Vacation Strategies

{ae filkins}

If you aren't familiar with EMME, head over to {AEFilkins} Extreme Makeover Me Edition each Wednesday Amber posts a new question that somehow relates to getting healthy or doing things that are better for us.

This week, Amber says:

Share Some Of Your Vacation Survival Tips

Now, while I don't vacation very often, we do try to make it at least once a year to San Diego. We are fortunate that my FIL lives in SoCal and we can stay with them when we go over. So we get the benefit of home cooked meals and not having to eat out the whole time. Also, FIL and SMIL are very health conscious and eat mainly fresh, raw foods. So, some of the things that we do on vacation are:

drink more water
eat at home, less expensive than eating out and healthier
swimming all day when we are not out
walking a lot more - to and from the beach, at the zoo, sight seeing

Now I am really excited for our trip coming up the end of this month!

  1. I am all about eating at home...at the condo...or simply preparing your own meals instead of eating out while on vacation. Definitely helps. I am excited about your vacation too!!!!!

  6. That is one of the benefits of being on vacation at my in-laws too. They eat pretty healthy {with healthy doses of ice cream, of course. It's dairy!}. They eat small portions, always split everything.

    We swim every day. Take walks. Don't eat a lot.

    So that's always nice. The only thing that's hard for me is that it's SO slow here. We just pretty much laze around most days. Or at least at night. I don't have much laundry, no cooking, no dishes, etc. So it's easy to get bored and snack. Which I did tonight. :(

    Don't you love San Diego!? I do!

  10. Interesting!

    Everyone loves going to a vacation. It is a good activity or bonding with family and friends. It is very to check on the things you need to bring. Start with the most useful like clothes, toiletries and stuff you need. Select a vacation bag that is comfortable for your belongings and also comfortable for you to bring.
