Can anyone tell me why is it that when you have to run to Walmart (or Target for that matter) for one thing you come out with an entire cart full of stuff?

This was me is my list for what I needed today

Somehow, and I don't know how this happens, a ton of other stuff found its way into my cart! Things like new panties for my daughter, new flip flops for my daughter, a crazy Tinkerbelle hair extension guessed it, for my daughter. Bandana's in all different colors so that I can make shirts (from this site I found 15 minute dress from and the ribbons for the shirts again for my daughter. Then I got the new mouse for my desktop, but also got a new mouse pad and I needed some of the air in a can stuff, you know to blow the dust off my keyboard and stuff...finally we are making our way to the checkout in the garden center since that is the where we parked. Then my husband starts in with the ' oh I wanted to get a new rake...and we should get some solar powered lights for the walkway in the front yard".

What started out as a $10 trip to Walmart turned into a $120 trip! I ask you again, how does this happen and am I the only one?!

Aloha Friday

It's time for Aloha Friday again! Yay!

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link on Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My question is:

What is your favorite thing about the beginning of summer?

My favorite thing about the beginning of summer is that its the start of bbq's and pool parties with all the friends and family! I love having family dinners and seeing all of our friends laughing together and enjoying each other. The rest of the year it seems everyone is too busy with school or work or the approaching holidays and we feel rushed. In the summertime though, everything seems more relaxed, more willing to take the time to stay and play and have a good time. That is my favorite thing about the beginning of summer;)!

Friday Fill It Ins!

1. It's NEVER cold and rainy in Phoenix.

2. I love to eat fresh tomatoes.

3. My favorite health and beauty product is almost anything by Philosophy.

4. I would love to go for a nice long ride.

5. Well, first of all my daughter is an amazing little person and secondly, she cracks me up on a daily basis with the things she says.

6. Myself and Rob Pattinson; those were the cast of characters in a recent dream and it was heavenly.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to my husband getting off work, tomorrow my plans include helping friends move and chores and Sunday, I want to relax!

Do you ever have one of those days where you can see all the things that really need to be done around your house, but you cannot get yourself up off your couch (or desk chair in my case today!) to do them? This is totally me today.

My in laws are coming out in just under two weeks and now is definitely NOT the time to let my house go to pot. But dang if I could get myself motivated. All I really had to do today was clean the kitchen (hello holiday weekend full of shopping and eating out and parties and just general laziness = HORRIBLY DIRTY KITCHEN in my house) and clean the bathrooms. That doesn't seem like a lot, it would take maybe an hour tops to get it knocked out.

So instead, I just sit here at my desk (which is covered at the moment in cookbooks and that is a whole other story) eyeballin' the kitchen that is mostly clean now, but still has a few things soaking in the sink that I really really don't feel like getting up and finishing...and my bathrooms, well I did manage to get up and clean the guest bathroom since my good friend Cat comes over every Tuesday night and although I know she loves me even if my house is dirty, I still like to pretend that I keep a clean house...most days. Anyway, I didn't finish that bathroom yet either though as I haven't done the tub/shower. But you see how the day has gone. I get motivated just enough to start the projects and then the phone rings, or my daughter needs/wants my attention and the bathroom and kitchen are forgotten again...until I sit at my desk and peer over at my sink once again...ugh! Maybe, just maybe I can work up the motivation to finish the guest bath and the kitchen before Cat gets here and then all will be forgotten again while we are talking and laughing and preparing dinner...until tonight when I go to get ready for bed and I am staring at dirty master bathroom. Oh well, there is always tomorrow I suppose.

Photo Walkin' The Neighborhood

So we took a little family walk this evening since its so nice out today...while on our walk, I decided to take the little CanonSD1100IS that is kept in my purse whenever we go anywhere. There really wasn't much interesting or that caught my eye except this..

Photobucket just struck me as cool looking. Oh and there was one other one that I had to get...

...this is Gargoyle, we all say hello whenever we pass him by. =)

Aloha Friday =)

It's Aloha Friday, don't forget to head over to and check it out for yourself!

So my question for you on this Aloha Friday is, When was the last time you played in the rain?

It has been raining here in Phoenix since yesterday afternoon, which if you know anything about Phoenix, you know that is a rarity! My daughter loves the rain, I don't know why or how she came to this love of rain, but she does. So yesterday afternoon my husband took her for a walk in the rain, this morning I am going to head out with her and let her splash around in the puddles and hopefully get a few pictures. As for me, the last time I played in the rain, I was in my early 20's...yeah let's not get into exactly how long ago that was! So for my fellow Phoenician's get outside and play in the rain, goodness knows we won't see anymore rain for a couple of months probably...and as for everyone else, get out and act like a kid again the next time it rains in your neck of the woods, you'll thank me!

Friday Fill It In's

1. I am hopefully done Moving for a long long time.

2. The best things in life are free.

3. My best quality is my ability to laugh at myself.

4. I want all the juicy details.

5. In nearly 10 years, my daughter will be 15.

6. A million dollars is what I need right now!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to my daughter going to sleep, tomorrow my plans include doing some more crafty stuff and Sunday, I want to enjoy a lazy day and maybe head to a friends house for a swim party!

I Could Be Called A Crafty Woman

I have been known to be crafty at times...not the manipulative kind of crafty mind you...the real crafty, you know sewing, scrappin', painting kind of crafty. This morning I was bored and my husband has today off so he is entertaining our daughter so I decided to try and make a nursing cover without a pattern. It doesn't seem like something that difficult that has to have a specific pattern right? A big piece of fabric with a neck strap is pretty much it. So, here it is, after only 2 hours and many interruptions...

Not too bad for a first effort, I do still need to head to Michael's or Joanne's and get the rings to tighten or loosen the neck strap, but otherwise its done! I am so proud of myself!

do⋅mes⋅tic⋅i⋅ty  [doh-me-stis-i-tee]

–noun, plural -ties.
1. the state of being domestic; domestic or home life.
2. a domestic or household act, activity, duty, or chore.

Do you have a certain chore that just makes you feel really domesticated? We all have chores and stuff we have to do around the house, but not all of them really make you feel domestic, at least they don't make me feel that way! All except hanging laundry on the clothes line.

While I am hanging the laundry I think about all the money we are saving by not using the dryer to dry 12 loads of laundry a week, I think about all the chores I have yet to do that day - mind you, not all of them will get done, but that doesn't mean they aren't on the list! I think about how hot it's going to be today and that the laundry will only need to be out for 30 minutes or so before its completely dry. I think about what I need to take out for dinner, what will be for lunch, how many times I will have to tell my daughter to put her toys away or pick up after herself...

I am starting to think I should take that time hanging the laundry to think about what I want for our future, what goals do I have for my family? What dreams do I have for my family? What vacations would I like to see us take? Where will we be in 5 years? Hmm, all things to ponder and hopefully I will have answers to these questions tomorrow, after all, the next load is waiting to be hung on the line...

Do routine's help in your house? They sure do in mine. It is always obvious that things are getting off track when my daughter starts having more fits and attitudes that we need to buckle down on the routine. You know how it is, you start off great, then life starts to get in the way and slowly you get off track with your whole routine. The house is not being cleaned how and when it should, the kids bed time is getting pushed around...its a vicious cycle in my house.

We have gone through a really intense past year in our family. We had some family stuff happen (I won't bore you with the details) and we ended up moving in with my grandmother to help care for her and the house. A month after that, we ended up moving my MIL down here from Iowa to live with us. She was dying of cancer and there was no family around her to help take care of her where she lived. So we had a full house, and my routine went straight out the window. I was suddenly not only taking care of the house, my daughter and my husband...but now I also had my elderly gramma and my terminal mother in law to take care of. Talk about stress. I tried to keep everyone on a routine and for a couple of days it would work, and then Life would get in the way and I would get tired and just would be forgotten. We were all just basically trying to survive it all. Within a few months, my mother in law had passed away and that took a load of daily stress off of us, but there was the grief and the dealing with her estate and a whole new set of stresses. Then my gramma took a turn for the worse and had to be committed to a geriatric psych ward for a month and now is moving into a group home for people with her same issues today.

Finally though, we are back to just us - my husband, my daughter and myself. I am trying to get us all back into our routine and its a struggle, but I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

My Journey To Reviving My Flowers

I don't think I need to tell anyone that living in Phoenix in summer is like living on the face of the sun. I have heard it likened to walking into an oven set at 450, yeah...its that hot. So it's no surprise that keeping anything alive in a garden is near impossible once the heat starts (usually around April or May). That is why my flowers look the way they currently do...and I am on a mission to rescue them! It can't be that hard, can it?

I should mention, the plants in the first picture from left to right are Pink Geranium's, Red Geranium's and Multi Colored Primrose. In the second photo are my beloved Gerbera Daisies, peach, pink, hot pink and there is also Chinese Dogwood.

Well, I guess we will see how hard it really is to get flowers to bloom in the desert!
