2012, Here we come!

Happy New Year's Eve, friends! Can you believe we are almost in 2012? Does anyone else remember all the crazy Y2K stuff back in 1999? Gosh, that seems like FOR-EVER ago!

Anyhoo, I'm getting things all ready for the New Year and that includes making goals and resolutions for the coming year. I may not always reach the goals I set for the New Year, but I was raised with the belief that if you don't set goals for yourself you don't have anything to work towards. I don't know that I still believe that whole-heartedly, but I do still make those goals and resolutions every year.

This year, in addition to my normal goals I am also starting on my 40 by 40 list. Most of the things on that list count towards New Year's goals. Something that I think is usually on everyone's list for the new year is to get healthy, fit, lose weight..whatever you personally call it. For me, its all of those things. I need to lose a lot of weight to make myself more healthy and fit. I have had a lot of success with Weight Watchers previously, and when I work the program I see awesome results. When I start making bad choices by not working out or eating more junk and less good stuff I don't see results. So, tomorrow morning I am headed back to Weight Watchers. I will be attending meetings every Saturday morning...early. Every Friday night, we will take photos (front and side view) and measurements then Saturday mornings I will weigh in. For my exercise I will go back to what I love, yoga. I will also be starting the C25K program and I am really looking forward to that.

As part of my accountability I will be posting these pictures each week along with my weight loss and inches lost.

Week 1

I would love to hear your stories and we can support and encourage each other. I think we all know this isn't just about losing weight, but also about finding out what made us gain the weight to begin with. I will be doing the emotional work too and hopefully will see some progress in that area as well.

Friday Confessional

I Confess...that I have already taken down all of the Christmas decor with the exception of the tree and outside lights. I'm ready to have my house back to normal now!

I Confess...I am so ready for the New Year! I have big plans for this year and I can't wait to get started on them.

I Confess...I am going to start 2012 off with a clean and organized house for the first time in forever.

I Confess...I know it's not going to be easy, but there are some big changes in store for me and my family over the next few weeks and I am actually looking really forward to our future.

I Confess...that even though I didn't get EVERYTHING on my wish list for Christmas, I was still pretty spoiled and I am grateful.

I Confess...I am kicking the soda habit (again) and the caffeine withdrawals are kicking my ass. For serious. Can't wait til the headaches stop already.

What do you have to confess? Go link up with Mamarazzi!

2012 Reading List

In 2012 I am starting to focus on my 40 by 40 list, 40 things I want to accomplish by the time I am 40 years old. One of those things is to read 500 books, so 100 books a year for the next 5 years. I think that is totally doable! Another thing on the list is to read all the books I should have read in high school (To Kill a Mockingbird, Catcher in the Rye, Of Mice and Men...) but didn't because I was home-schooled and we didn't have the normal required reading of secular high schools. So I thought I would start off the year with a few of the books on the my reading list for the beginning of the year.

I'm hoping to get through all of these in January and February! I know, it's a big list and that's a lot of reading, but I'm looking forward to spending more time reading and getting lost in a really great book more often. It is something I have missed. I really want reading to be something that my daughter will fall in love with as I have and that she will forever love books. What are some of your favorite books? What's on your reading list for the new year?

Christmas Day - Part 3

We made it through another Christmas folks! Hooray! I just can't get over how fast the years are going, especially now that I have a child. It amazes me that she is already 7 years old. It's a lot more fun to celebrate holidays with her, she makes everything so much more fun!

She completely missed the whole laptop and ipod on the table that Santa left for her...

And went straight to the unicorn on a stick that she had asked Santa for last year but didn't get

Then she gave me this face when she opened the obligatory socks and undies!

These were one of my gifts, diamond and pearl earrings

This is the hole in my ceiling from the champagne cork shooting out of the bottle. We had no idea where it went either! lol

Brunch isn't brunch without mimosa's!

Well, that was our Christmas. It was wonderful and we were reminded of just how blessed we truly are once again. Now it's time to start the cleanup and packing all the Christmas decor away til next year. I'm really looking forward to New Year's Eve and 2012! I have big plans and I can't wait to get started!

Christmas Part 2

In my family, we have a couple of hero' probably know them as firefighters or emt's. People in EMS, you know the people who rush to save other people whether it be from a burning building or who've been in a serious accident or seriously ill. Both my hubby and my baby brother are EMT's/Firefighters. This means that they are usually working on the major holidays so we have had to adjust our family rituals of when we celebrate holidays. Luckily if they work the major holidays one year, they usually get them off the next year. This year happened to be the year they had most of them off. My hubby did have to work on Christmas Eve which to me is just as important for family traditions as Christmas Day. Fortunately the ER wasn't busy and they were fully staffed which means if anyone was working on OT (which Hubby was) they get sent home first if they don't need them. So hubby was sent home around 430 on Christmas Eve, hooray!

I woke up Christmas Eve morning to a snuggly 7 year old in my bed...

We always let Hannah open her pair of Christmas jammie's on Christmas Eve before we go out and look at Christmas lights. This year she got Hello Kitty footy jammie's! Too cute.

We stop by a QT and get some hot cocoa...And then we are off to search the Valley for the biggest and best Christmas lights displays! We found quite a few this year...

Hannah and Summer all snuggly

They really do love each other ♥

Summer ♥'s her new bed, that was her Christmas present!

Christmas Eve nacho's, rum and pepsi and White Christmas on the TV!

Finally, the tree all lit up and present all wrapped and under the tree. Time for Mama and Daddy to go to bed...

Christmas 2011 Pt. 1

This has been an amazing Christmas for our family. Normally my family can't get together without some sort of drama or arguing but this year was different, there wasn't any of that!

I took so many pictures over the last couple of weeks leading up to yesterday, so this will be part 1 ..the stuff leading up to Christmas morning!

Hannah seeing Santa and telling him what she wanted this year.

White Elephant Mom's Night In gift that I got to take home, SWEET! ;)

Baking cookies, lots and lots of cookies!

Mmmm, licking the mixers!

Chocolate chip cookie dough, best stuff on earth!

Part of our Christmas light display in our yard.

Treats for the neighbors!

Peppermint chip cookies. Yum.

Tomorrow I will share photos from Christmas Eve and Christmas Morning! I hope all of you had a magical Christmas with your families and friends. ♥

Heard At My House

These are actual conversations I have had or overheard at my house this week. You can't make this sh!t up! Literally in some cases!

Friend: why do ppl have green poop?
Me: what in the world?
Me: are you just asking in general?
Friend: uhm yeah
Me: things you eat can turn it different colors
Me: like different colored yogurts or things with a lot of food coloring
Friend: T says he has to go poop but it is like wet farts but green
Friend: normal after alot of dairy maybe?
Me: could be
Friend: that is so not helpful lol
Me: lol
Me: sorry
Friend: i dunno if I should be worried or not
Me: I would say not
Me: its normal to have poop be different colors sometimes. If its ALL the time then probably not so normal
Friend: yeah it is watery too
Me: ...

Scene: Bedtime, Hannah has brushed her teeth and is in bed. Daddy is going to read to her and snuggle for a bit. I'm in the living room on the laptop and all of the sudden I hear...

Hannah: Summer lay down it's time for Daddy to read to us (Summer is the dog btw)
Hannah: Summer, I said lay down!
Hannah: SUMMER!! I said lay down! I'm not asking you, I'm telling you...LAY DOWN!

Me, in the living room...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHA ( mind you, I can't imagine where she has heard that before! lmao! )

These were just two of the memorable moments that really did happen at my house this week. Oh the joys...

A Very Pink Christmas

I've been looking around Pinterest for ideas on my Christmas table decor and of course have seen so many things I want to do. But with it already being 6 days til Christmas I can't do most of them this year. So, that means I have already started planning for next Christmas! What was that? Did I hear you say I'm totally insane? Well, yes probably I am but how gorgeous is all this stuff?! Seriously!!

I already can't wait for after Christmas sales so I can start collecting stuff for my Pink Christmas next year!
