When I disappeared off the face of the earth, or so it seemed? Yeah. About that...
I feel like it's been months since I've been a good blogger and updated y'all about what's been happening...in reality it has been over a month. So much has gone on in the last 6 weeks that it's hard to know where to start.
I can't remember if I shared that my parents were moving in with us or not, so I will just start with that. That happened in the end of August. My parents, like many other people in this country right now found themselves in a crappy position with my dad not having been working for over a year and my mom trying to keep them afloat with 2 part time jobs. In the end, they were not able to save their home and so we had them move in with us. We had a large house, plenty of room for 2 extra people and luckily enough room to house 2 full households of furniture without need for a storage unit for them. It was an adjustment for all of us, to be sure but we were managing really well.
Unfortunately there were other forces at work and without getting into all the nastiness and ugliness that seems to happen when a family member dies and leaves behind an inheritance, suffice it to say there were certain people in our family who decided to not honor that persons wishes and caused a sh*tstorm for others of us in the family.
In the end, the home we had lived in for 4 years was sold out from under us and we were given 13 days to move out. Well, as you might imagine it was chaos. Trying to pack up a home, keep things as normal as possible for your child, find a new place to live, figure out how exactly you are going to pay for a move you were in no way expecting...it was chaos. We ended up moving in with a friends mom and while that was supposed to be for anywhere from 6 months to a year, we ended up not being able to stay there and had to move out of there within 2 weeks of moving in.
All of our belongings have been in storage since the end of September, we've moved 2ce and been homeless for a few days in between. Thankfully one of my very best friends let us crash on her floor for 2 nights until we were approved for our new place. We are so grateful to all of our friends who were there and supported us during the whole ordeal. I don't know what we would have done without them.
We have now been in our new apartment for 3 weeks. It's small, much smaller than our old house - but it's comfortable, clean, safe and just enough space for my little family.
On top of the chaos and moving and trying to get settled again, I lost my job. We saw it coming and planned for it by getting a smaller apartment than we wanted, but we knew this way we could make all our bills and live on just what my hubby brings in with his job. So, whenever I do get a new job things will be a little easier but we are healthy, happy and living a life that is of our making.
I will be getting back to normal posting hopefully this week, but my daughter is home sick from school yesterday and today so we all know that can throw off the things we 'plan' to do for a good little bit!
If you've made it this far - you are a rockstar! Thanks for sticking with me and letting me get that out. I have much more to share about things that have happened recently, but that's a post for another day.
