Hooray! It's time for the big Gender Reveal! I know I am just like most other pregnant women, so anxious to find out if we will be adding a boy or girl to our family when baby is born and don't worry, I can't keep a secret this big to save my life so y'all get to find out too!
At my last doctor's appointment on the 19th, I was supposed to have an ultrasound and we would have been able to find out gender then, but when I got to the doctor she had decided I didn't need an ultrasound that day since all my tests and previous ultrasounds have been fantastic. Ugh! lol. She did give me the orders for my level 2 ultrasound with the perinatologist and said I could schedule that appointment for between 19-20 weeks (so only 2 weeks away). Well, fortunately for me, my husband works in a hospital and has friends in other departments. One of those friends works in the ultrasound department and has told us that if he's not busy he doesn't mind doing a quick scan so we can try and find out before the perinatologist appointment. Luckily, 3 days after my doctors appt, my hubby worked and so did his friend in ultrasound, so we took ourselves on down to the hospital and had a quick peek.
As I'm laying there on the table and he is running the wand over my belly, Sean and Hannah are watching the monitor very intently. He apologizes after a couple of minutes and says, ' sorry I'm just trying to take my time and make sure that what I'm seeing is actually what I'm seeing '. He eventually tells us what we are having and we see on the monitor that baby was not being modest at all, showing all the goods! lol
I called my mom as I left the hospital and asked if she and my dad could come over to our house the next night for the big gender reveal and she said of course. I asked her to call my sister in law and brother to make sure they could come as well. After everyone said yes they could make it, I called my bff who is a baker to do the cupcakes!
The next day was pure torture! I already told you how I can't keep a secret like this one to save my life, so making sure that I didn't let it slip in any conversations with anyone that day was hard, but waiting til 5 pm to tell the family was even harder! I took some extra time and did my hair and makeup, which let's face it I haven't taken the time to do since I got knocked up back in May!! haha
I decided now was as good a time as any to take a bump photo, I love this dress for the simple fact its comfy and there is nothing restricting on my belly. Everything else is so dang uncomfortable already. Anyhoo...the family all got to our house right around 5 and it was time to serve up the cupcakes!
We had everyone standing around in a semi-circle and everyone was told to bite into their cupcake at the same time. As soon as my mom bit in and saw the color she started screaming excitedly. lol Of course my dad and brother had to be goofballs and say they had the opposite color inside. The whole time this was going on, my mom was on the phone with her sister who of course also wanted to know boy/girl and Sean, who was supposed to be taking video of this event was also on his phone with his dad who wanted to know the gender. So the video is a complete hot mess. Ugh. Anyway, without further adieu, baby Thomas is a .....
Yes, we are having a boy this time! No, my excitement is not any greater than it would have been if it were a girl. I am not of the belief that to be complete I need a son, but I am happy to know his gender and not be waiting and wondering til my appointment with the peri on the 3rd of September! lol So now the fun part of decorating his room and buying all the cute baby boy stuff that I can find begins!
